2011

Thanks to the support of the Directorate of Cinematography  of the Ministry of Culture and the Colombian Film Heritage Foundation, the first phase of intervention in the Luis Ospina archive was carried out in the second half of 2011.

The materials that make up a filmmaker's archive, in this case, occupy a much larger space than the depository of films and filmic archive material. On this occasion, we are facing a collection made up of hundreds of copies of Ospina's film production, but also an organic unity of thousands of documents that, in addition to being a fundamental support for creation, tell of a life story and of one of the most interesting trajectories in the history of Colombian cinema.

For this first phase, approximately 600 pages of letters, manuscripts, film scripts, press articles, newspapers, photographs, among others, have been inventoried, cataloged, and digitized. The volume of the archive exceeds the possibilities of being cataloged in its entirety, so in this first stage the researcher will only find documents that correspond to the work of Luis Ospina between 1962 and 1982, the year in which he produced his first feature film Pura sangre.

The documents are organized by thematic categories that correspond to the outlined time line and that, in addition,  allow to establish links between Ospina's film production and other determining aspects in his career such as cinefilia and the Cali Group.

This project is coordinated by Luis Ospina, with the guidance of Sasha Quintero, the research of Luisa Fernanda Ordóñez and the assistance of Laura Tamayo.
